Counseling & Mental Health

Our school has caring and highly qualified staff who are dedicated to serving the mental and social-emotional needs of our students:

Hi! My name is Angie Gutierrez and I am the school counselor at White Bluffs Elementary. I attended Eastern Washington University, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2018 and my Master’s Degree in School Counseling in 2021. I have a husband named Angel, who works at Richland High School, a son named Malcolm, and a dog named Honey. When I am not at school, I spend my time with my family, enjoy exercising, reading mystery books, coffee, and animals. What I love the most about my job is connecting with our students and being able to see all of the unique qualities and strengths that students bring with them. I also enjoy being able to work with families to help support their students- I firmly believe that we are a team and do the best work together. I am so excited to be serving your students!

Mrs. Ferguson is our school psychologist. She assesses students for special education services and is also available to help any of our students in crisis.

What does a school counselor do?

School counselors work to promote the social-emotional, academic, and career development well-being of all students. School counselors work to nurture the positive skills that children need to feel and be well. If you have concerns for your student and/or family, please reach out to me- I am here and happy to help!

Social Emotional Learning

The Richland School District has adopted PurposeFull People’s social-emotional curriculum as of the 2023-2024 school year. This educational curriculum teaches skills for life and character education and is designed to include these skills while building a foundation of strong relationships among students.
